Gender inequality refers to unequal treatment or perceptions of individuals based on their gender. Gender inequality is something that has been going around for many years. The belief that men are better in many ways than women really gets under my skin. Women have come from stay at home mothers, who do all the cooking and cleaning to women with a voice who look forward to going out and making their own money. I choose this topic because even in 2016 when we have Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin, the first women to run for president, and successful women like Michelle Obama people still think that we should not be treated equal if it’s on the court or at a desk. Looking online I found a few videos that help back you what I am saying. These videos show how others view women and how society and television made women feel about themselves. Watching these videos I learned more about how far this stretches and how serious people take this situation. Some statements that people have said in these video make you think of certain things differently but they all have good points that I take into consideration.
Always #LikeAGirl. Youtube. N.p., 26 June 2014. Web. 10 Feb. 2016. <https://www.youtube.com/
watch?v=XjJQBjWYDTs>. always created a commercial to show how girls of different ages
and guys think girls acts. This video asks kids of all ages questions that relate to being a
girl. They ask them to act out certain situation relating to girls to see how they portray them.
Later asked how they would feel being portrayed like that and would this relate to a family
member. In the video #LikeAGirl is trying to be used in a better way, a stronger, more
independent way to show to females are strong and independent.
HeForShe. Dir. Kathryn Ferguson. Youtube. N.p., 6 Aug. 2015. Web. 10 Feb. 2016.
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIL8aIbYYDE>. Emma Watson lead a disscion on gender
equality in a new film by Vogue Video. As a UN Women Global Goodwill Ambassador, Watson is a
vocal supporter of HeForShe, the UN solidarity movement for gender equality. In this video they
interview people in the fashion industry to get their take on how they feel about gender
equality. Some points make you think others are just like what everyone else says. This video
does bring up some good points.
Black and White. Youtube. N.p., 5 Oct. 2015. Web. 10 Feb. 2016. <https://www.youtube.com/
watch?v=ST0cR2-JcZ0>. Flo's a pretty confident, successful women and in the commercial she
is put back in time when a women's place was though to be in the kitchen. I used this
commercial as an example to show that the way that women was acting and saying about when is
how women should still be acting today. Him asking Flo where her husband was is saying women
are not important they are under men.
